Hannah Graham 18, Body Found / was missing Sept 13, 2014 - Charlottesville, VA

photo imagejpg1_zps8c49d240.jpg University of Virginia sophomore Hannah Graham, 18, disappeared Sept. 13 after a night out with friends. The remains were found Oct. 18 about 12 miles from the Charlottesville campus, in a heavily wooded area of Albemarle County that is home to rolling hills and horse farms.
The state Medical Examiner's office confirmed that the remains were Graham's, the Albermarle County Police Department said in a statement Friday.
The man Graham was last seen with, 32-year-old Jesse Leroy Matthew Jr., has been charged with abduction with intent to defile Graham.
Albemarle County Commonwealth's Attorney Denise Lunsford said in a statement that the focus of the investigation now is to determine "what charges will be brought and the appropriate time to make those charges."
Matthew's attorney, Jim Camblos, said in a voicemail greeting that he is not answering questions about the case.
Graham's remains were discovered roughly 6 miles from where the body of 20-year-old Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington was found after she vanished in 2009. Police have said forensic evidence connects Matthew to Harrington's killing, which in turn is linked by DNA to a 2005 sexual assault in northern Virginia. Matthew has been charged in the 2005 case.
Her disappearance prompted many University of Virginia students to begin walking in pairs or groups at night. Also, the university expanded a ride service for its students.
Graham met friends at a restaurant for dinner Sept. 12 before stopping by two off-campus parties. She left the second party alone and eventually texted a friend saying she was lost, authorities said.
In surveillance video, she can be seen walking unsteadily and even running at times, past a pub and a service station and then onto a seven-block strip of bars, restaurants and shops.
Matthew was an operating room technician at the university's hospital. He was also a former college football lineman and sometimes cab driver.
Friends have said they were shocked the "gentle giant" — he's 6-foot-2 and weighs 270 pounds — could be suspected of such violence.
Matthew was co-captain of his high school football team and continued to play football in college, although he dropped out of two universities following accusations of sexual assault against him. He was never charged. Officials in both cases said the alleged victims declined to press charges.

The victim in the 2005 rape in the Washington, D.C., suburbs is cooperating with authorities, Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Morrogh has said.

Previous: CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Police released new surveillance pictures of Hannah Elizabeth Graham, as the search continued Monday night for the teen, who they believe went missing on her way home from a party. The second year University of Virginia student was last heard from on September 13 when she sent a text to friends at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday. Police said Graham left alone from the party at 14th and Wertland Streets, in an area not from her house which she knew pretty well. Around 45 minutes later police said Hannah texted friends with the message that she was lost in the same area. Police said she was “fairly well intoxicated.” “On Sunday, her friends and family realized that none of them had seen or had contact with her since Friday night and a call was placed to the Emergency Communications Center by her friends, reporting her missing,” said Charlottesville Police Captain Gary Pleasants. Sophia Lamrissi-Garcia spent last Friday night partying not far from her friend Hannah, at one of her sorority events. She thought about walking home alone but she opted not to, she said. “Don’t know why, but I decided to take a cab.” Police said Graham decided to find her way home, alone. These pictures released by police are of Graham in her apartment building, around 9:30 p.m., the Friday she went missing. At the request of her family the address is not being released. “At that point in the night you think you’re doing the right thing walking alone but it’s not always the right decision to make,” Sophia said. The police presence and search team have startled students, some who say they are having a difficult time coming to grips with Graham’s disappearance. “I saw her on Thursday…she seemed really happy,” said neighbor Sam Blum, who is also on the ski team with Graham.“…Downtown Charlottesville, I wouldn’t expect that.” The Charlottesville Police department, Albemarle County Police department and Virginia State Police are all searching for Graham. Police described the 18-year-old Northern Virginia native as a 5’11” white female with a skinny build. She has blue eyes, light brown hair and freckles. Graham was last seen wearing a black crop top with mesh cut outs. Anyone with information about Graham was asked to call Charlottesville Police Department at 434-970-3280 or CrimeStoppers at 434-977-4000. MEDIA SOURCE:

Earthly Body Found: Gabe Verdin, 19 - Louisiana

Prayers for the family and friends of Gabe Verdin.

A Bourg man says that the body found floating in a Channelview, Texas, bay Saturday morning is likely that of his missing teenage son.
Gabriel Verdin, 19, was last seen April 8 just a few blocks away from where the body was discovered, he said.
“We're not looking for him anymore, we already found him,” said Shannon Pitre, 44, of Bourg.
The body, which was found by the Houston Police Department's Marine Division, has not been positively identified as Verdin, Harris County sheriff's spokesman Thomas Gilliland said.
Even without conclusive evidence that it is Verdin, his family is already mourning his loss, Pitre said.
“We're not 100 percent sure, but at the moment, it's very likely that it's him,” Pitre said. “We are all just so hurt right now.”
Verdin was reported missing Wednesday morning by a co-worker who walked with him from the dock where their workboat landed to the nearby Starlight Lounge, Gilliland said.
Verdin allegedly left with another bar patron while the co-worker was in the restroom. The co-worker reported him missing Wednesday morning.
Harris County authorities won't speculate on Verdin's cause of death or say whether violence is suspected.
Verdin graduated from South Terrebonne High School in 2013 and, according to his father, was a hard-working and happy young man.
Attempts to reach Verdin's mother proved unsuccessful.
Verdin worked for LeBouef Bros. Towing, where his father has worked for two years as a tankerman. Verdin, hired as a deckhand two months ago, was on his second outing with the company when he disappeared.

At this point, it's not yet confirmed that the body found today is that of the teen but a representative for the 19-year-old's employer told told Local 2 they've been notified it is likely Gabe Verdin.
"It broke my heart," the representative said. "It was the first time meeting him and he was just so polite, such a nice kid."

Betty Byrd owns the Starlight Lounge on Market Street and may have been one of the last people to see Verdin alive.
The representative with La Beoff Brothers Towing, the company where Verdin worked, said he disappeared Tuesday night after he and another deckhand told the captain of their tow boat they were heading into town to buy cigarettes and sodas. Along the way the two ended up at the Starlight Lounge.
"He was ready to go at 9:30, but his co-worker wasn't ready to go yet, so some guy offered him a ride," Byrd said.
About a half hour later, the man who was allegedly giving Verdin a ride returned to the bar alone.
Verdin's mother spoke to Local 2 Friday after traveling 300 miles from her home in Southeast Louisiana, searching for her son.
"I look at the sky, I look all around, I just want to see him," Verdin's mother said.
Verdin had only worked for La Beoff Brothers as a deckhand for a couple of months. His employer said he was always smiling and had a good attitude.
Verdin's employer and family members were in Houston Saturday, along with a private investigator, still searching for answers.
Homicide investigators from the Harris County Sheriff's Office are now working the investigation.

Loved by many, will be missed by all.

After a 21-year old college student went missing on Saturday, a search of the local area soon began. He had last been seen leaving a local restaurant in Granville Ohio, but did not return home. He left the restaurant at closing time around 2am on Saturday morning.  Severe weather conditions at the time meant that it was not a wise idea for someone to be out in the cold for too long. Later that evening around 1030pm he was found about half a mile away from the restaurant where his friends last saw him earlier that morning.

David Hallman III, 21, of Erie, was last seen Saturday at 2am at Brews Cafe where bar surveillance video shows he left without a coat.

He wasn't found until after 10:30pm Saturday night.

Police think Hallman became disoriented after leaving the bar and ended up nearly a mile away, in front of a garage on Parsons Village Drive.

An intensive door-to-door search occured during much of the day, when the temperatures ranged from a low of 4 to a high of 22.  The search started for the missing young man when the student's father said his son missed an appointment at noon and couldn't be reached by his cell phone.

Granville Police and Denison University security organized a search and tracked his cell phone as security looked all over campus for him.

Hours later, two women found his body in the snow.

No foul play is suspected.

Hallman's cause of death is still under investigation, but police suspect alcohol is a factor.
